Poor baby. Rolling Eyes

Put a screen cap from League of their Own on the cover. Ok, maybe not.

Seriously though, I say a tribute to Haren is in order.

Sounds like he was upset about leaving his teammates, not about coming to Arizona. Where's the douche in that?

Saunders is expected to join the D-backs on Tuesday and make his Arizona debut against the Phillies two days later. The lefty is coming off a strong start on Friday. He allowed one Rangers run on seven hits over seven innings and struck out six.

I am sure RJ is paying close attention right now, especially with Gonzo's number going up before his.

Joe Saunders has two viable choices. He can quit the game of baseball or he can come to Arizona and be miserable. No wonder he was crying when the grim reaper came to see him yesterday.

Doug Haller / The Arizona Republic this afternoon wrote:
Left-hander Joe Saunders realized he had gotten off to a slow start for the Los Angeles Angels, but he felt good about his past month or two. Over his past 14 starts, Saunders had allowed two or fewer runs eight times. In his most-recent outing, he threw seven innings against Texas, allowing seven hits and one run.

He won 33 games in a recent two-year span, but skeptics point to Saunders' ERA as evidence of what you see isn't always what you get. Only once in five seasons has Saunders posted an ERA under 4.44. This season, in 20 starts, he is 6-10 with a 4.62 ERA.

"He's a back-end starter," ESPN baseball analyst Keith Law said. "He's a five in the American League, probably a four in the National League. He'll chew up innings; he's just not a great pitcher."

Diamondbacks Interim General Manager Jerry Dipoto, however, didn't sound concerned about Saunders' statistical drop.

"We're getting a pitcher for our major-league club who comes in and delivers a message to our guys that this is about winning now and winning in the future," Dipoto said.

Dipoto said Saunders, who resides in Chandler, was excited to come to Arizona, but the news hit the pitcher hard Sunday. Saunders had spent eight years in the Angels organization.

"First and foremost, I'm excited to go home and live with my family instead of out of a suitcase for six months," Saunders said. "But also, as a baseball player, you want new challenges. Like facing National League hitters I've never faced before. And starting a new family with the Diamondbacks. I've had a lot of good relationships with the Angels, that's why this is so hard for me, but I'm looking forward to starting some new relationships."

I don't think it's fair to beat up Saunders over being upset about the trade. These are real people and this uproots his life.

Agreed. Going from a team that is consistently near the top of the division to....well, what we've been used to is probably deflating. I'd be disappointed, as well.

I would expect Saunders to be very upset about the trade because he was traded to a terrible team. His great win loss percentage is history!
