This is Lake Havasu City's mission!!!!

During the Vietnam War, when soldiers returned home from war, they never got a welcome home. They never got a thank you for serving our country. So, in Lake Havasu, it has become a PRIORITY, from the Vets that have served in wars before us...that EVERY soldier that leaves to go overseas to fight...KNOWS that he/she is loved and thought of!!!!

When a soldier comes home, it is a PRIORITY, from those that never got their own thankyou, to thank the soldiers for fighting for us and coming home safe. These Veterans, city officials, Blue Star mothers (moms that have sons/daughters that have or had served, join together to throw these soldiers,,either leaving for overseas, or coming home..and throw them a big party at the VFW and American Legion.

Some of these Veterans have a group called the Patriot Guard Riders. This group gets on their motorcycles, attach giant flags to their bikes, go to that soldiers house, and escort him..along with the police/fire escort..put that soldier in a corvette or limo..and escort him/her to the VFW or American Legion. When there, the group stands in a circle, holds hands, sings with a cd "God Bless the USA" and when the song says, gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today... the group raises their hands..it is AMAZING and breathtaking to experience this. I fight the tears EVERY time..and the soldiers...always cry. You see Veterans, who have fought wars...cry. THey take the soldier inside, and give him/her key to the city, tshirts, gifts, and cake. It is SUCH an awesome experinence. I invite ANYONE that comes to Havasu, to let me know, and I have become good friends with these Veterans..I will set it up so some of you can experience this. I'm glad I get to cover it , every time.

So, I am attaching other photos from this mornings "mission". Fitting these sometimes fall on Patriotic holidays. Makes us never forget the reason we are able to celebrate..no matter your political party. A soldier risks their life for us all!!
