Here is the confirmation.

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed two of their top draft picks - pitchers J.R. Bradley and Robby Rowland - and assigned them to an advanced Rookie-level league in Missoula, Mont.

Piecoro tweeted the bonuses of Bradley and Rowland...

Dbacks sign 2nd-round draft pick RHP J.R. Bradley ($643,500) and 3rd-rounder Robby Rowland ($395,000).

Any reason we haven't signed Barret Loux yet? I've heard many of you say we hadn't planned to sign him anyway. I'm still a bit of a noob to drafts.

First round picks usually take a lot longer to get signed unless an agreement was in place before the draft which we more or less had last year with Pollock. I believe Bobby Borchering, our other first round pick from last year, signed the day before the August 15 deadline for signing draft picks. Having not heard much about the Loux situation im guessing there hasnt been much discussion yet and it will go down to the wire before we know whether he is signing.

Wheeler, D-backs agree to terms

Quote:

Cody Wheeler isn't expecting a lot from his rookie season of pro baseball, but he's eager to get started.

The Spotsylvania County native will report to Yakima (Wash.) Saturday to join the Arizona Diamondbacks' Class-A farm team after signing with the club on Tuesday. Wheeler was Arizona's fifth-round draft pick two weeks ago after a stellar pitching career at Coastal Carolina University.

"I'm a little excited, a little nervous," Wheeler said yesterday. "I'm going to a team that's already started, that's already got some guys in the mix. I'm coming in a little late, but I'm excited to get up there and show them what I can do."

Wheeler, a left-hander, was 28-1 at Coastal Carolina. He said his signing bonus was around $170,000.

Bolsinger Signs With Arizona Diamondbacks

http://arkansasnews.com/2010/06/28/bolsinger-signs-with-arizona-diamondbacks/

Quote:

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas right-handed pitcher Mike Bolsinger has agreed to terms with the Arizona Diamondbacks and will begin his pro career in Yakima, Wash.

“They asked me what I want to do and I told them I’d like to start out relieving right now,” said Bolsinger, who was selected in the 15th round. “Just so I can fit comfortably here.”

Now...it appears Bolsinger is fairly intelligent. Wants to be a reliever-guess he knows the D-back organization pretty well.

Good luck to him as he begins his pro career.

Awesome. That gives us two good picks next year, right?

Aw, I love when I'm right (even though I completely lucked into it).
Loux was a shit pick. Now, I wouldn't be celebrating a D'Backs fail if we weren't getting some compensation back. I'm going to be happy with #8 next year.

Actually we'd receive the 7th overall pick next year if we don't sign Loux...so if the season ended today and we don't sign Loux, we're lookin' at the 3rd and 7th overall pick in the first round next year.

I thought you got a pick one under from what you got the year before.
We didn't sign the 7th pick, so we get the 8th next year.
That's how I thought it was.
But you're probably right.

This doesn't mean he won't pitch in the MLB.
He just has to pitch in the IL for a year, get picked way later in 2011, settle for a lot less money, and pass his physical.

No worries, guys: the Dbacks "Next Championship" plan just got moved a couple of years back, to 2019. But it's coming, mark someone's words.

Remember, "The Process" to winning a World Series takes 8-10 years. Like planning for college, it's never too early to start "The Process".

Your thinking is right but you just mixed the numbers up. Loux was the 6th pick in the draft and therefore we'll get the 7th in next years draft if we dont sign Loux this year.

The conspirist in me says they drafted Loux knowing he wouldn't pass which gives them an easy out for not signing him and therefore getting the extra pick next year... which is what they seemed to want anyway...
