Great man first, legendary coach second. He lived a full and meaningful life.

Three of my favorite Wooden quotes:

"Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do."

"If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes."

"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

Glen Frey "Here's the message folks. You can't change the world but you can change yourself. John Wooden said you shouldn't concern yourself with peoples perception of you but rather concern yourself with your character which is the true measure of who and what your are. I buy that"

Have heard my share of motivational speakers over the years... but by far the most mesmerizing experience was Wooden's presentation. It went over the same terrain as his book outlining his pyramid of success... but his sincerity was unsurpassed. He LIVED his principles and taught by his example.

He is certain to be in a good place now!

Did you hear last night at Dodger Stadium they turned over the mike to Vinny and he made the announcement about Woodens death.

Five minute standing ovation.
