We're on our way to half a dozen 16-team super-conferences. The Pac-16, Mountain West, Big-10, SEC, and ACC are pretty much guaranteed, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Conf-USA and a couple others attempt to replicate the model, also.

Either way, I'm looking forward to UA's stadium expansion coinciding with the inaugural season of the Pac-16. Hopefully the Pac-16 schedule makers send Oklahoma out here for the home-opener...

Not if the PAC-16 has anything to say about it. We want two!

I'm confused. If Nebraska leaves the Big 12 to play in the Big Ten doesn't that give us TWO Big 11s??? Laughing

Seriously though I would not be opposed to all those teams joining the Pac-10 if U of A and ASU don't have to play exclusively with the eastern schools every year. I like the rivalries we've built up over the past 32 years. I think Colorado is a great addition. My prefernce would be to just add Utah and be done with it!

Actually it's more ironic than that. Nebraska and Colorado have officially left the Big 12 and the Big Ten already had 11 teams since they added Penn St back in 1990.

So, the Big 12 currently has 10 teams and the Big Ten has 12 teams. Laughing

So we could add six teams and stay the Pac-10?

I would feel so bad for Boise State if Utah left. They finally bolt their conference for something more meaty in the BCS' eyes, and then the top team leaves...

Talk about ironic.

I'm sure the name would change to Pac-12 if another team is added, and then I doubt they even keep the "Pacific-XX" name if they expand into Texas. Wouldn't make much sense.

Not sure what name they could take though.

In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas has been convinced by a plan presented by commissioner Dan Beebe to stay in a 10-member Big 12. UT officials are expected to announce their decision to remain in the Big 12 as early as Monday.

I still wouldn't come to any conclusions.

Joe Schad says Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and OK St. departure to Pac 10 is imminent

Who knows what's going to happen...the Big 10 people still think they are going to land Texas if A&M goes to the SEC. I'm just going to wait and see here.

If Big 12 ties things up and saves the league, look for Pac-10 commish Larry Scott to start courting Utah as the 12th addition to P10.

I wouldn't ... consider the prestige of adding Colorado and Utah versus Texas, Texas Tech and others. UA and ASU better step up the quality of their football programs or they will be doormats for the rest of the PAC-10 for a long time.

The PAC-16 needs to change it's name to the "The Big West!"

Well it's a moot point now that Texas has announced they are staying the in Big 12. The only question is if the Pac-10 (?) invites Utah or Kansas. All indications say Utah.

Utah makes more sense, both geographically and sportswise.

However, with CU coming, it's another win on the schedule for the 'Cats.

CBS 4 in Denver reporting Utah and Colorado to make up six-team division in new P12
by JazzyUte on Jun 14, 2010 10:29 PM MDT in Football 1 comment

An interesting story developing out of Denver tonight. It suggests what we've all expected - Utah will be going to the Pacific Twelve.

More interesting, however, is the division breakdown based on their inside sources. They claim both Utah and Colorado will be a part of the South division, which includes SC, UCLA, Arizona State and Arizona. Making up the North would be Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal and Stanford.

Thoughts?

That's how I thought the divisions would align if the Pac went to 12 teams. The North probably has better competitive balance (especially when Washington returns to glory), but the South has SC, so it will be the glitzier division. The SF schools will be mad to be divided from SC, but they should still play the LA schools two out of three years.

Beats the hell out of the Pac-16 East with the Texas and Oklahoma schools...
