I want what Heymans smoking.

He has us 8th in his power rankings.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/jon_heyman/04/02/team.rankings/index.html?xid=si_mlb

Ive got us 4th in the NL West and if anything else breaks wrong the Pads will be knocking on the door. Their rotation and team is not as bad as you think.

This is simply a loaded question I am not going to answer. Not only that, but there are too many unknowns for me to make a prediction. Any attempt would only be a guess. Like pretty much any team, any year. As the pitching goes, so will we. Will Jackson and Kennedy team with Haren to make a dynamite rotation and will we get some relief help this year?
The only thing I know for sure is that the Jim's Juggernaut up there in Denver is going to be a force to be reckoned with and if Ubaldo continues with the same kind of stuff we saw Wednesday, he will challenge Timmy, Danny and the St. Louie Carpenter for the Cy.
The other thing we have to do is play smart.
We can make a run at this thing, but the right things have to happen and it's going to be a tough division. I think the team that wins the intra-division wins the division.

You have a lot more confidence in that than me. I thought our chances even with a fit and healthy Webb would be decent at best due to the strength of the Rockies, Dodgers and Giants to a certain extent. Without him the chances of us contending become miniscule and nothing short of a hippy looking fellow that used to live in a middle eastern town about 2000 years ago extending his magical touch to us, is gonna make us play off contenders.

The sky is falling... Rolling Eyes

I say we go. All the way. WTF? I like the way this team is put together. I hope Webb shows up, but if not... I still believe. I think IPK and Lopez are the dark horses here. It's gonna be fun!

Can i have some of your Kool-aid please?

All joking aside i will have faith in this team to go out there and do all they can to contend, its just that this is not the NL West of a few years ago. Right now we are in the toughest division in the national league and the toughest bar one in all of baseball. That means we need to have a very strong team lead by a strong rotation to contend. If we have healthy Webb from May onwards id say we'd be in with a good shout of taking the wild card spot if not win the NL West. Without him thats a whole different ball-game.

Gotta love your optimism though hope some of that rubs off on me as the season goes on.

I say no. They will be the only valley team to not appear in a post-season game in calendar year 2010.

The season that started with such great hope.

D-backs' mantra this year: At least we're better than Pittsburgh and Baltimore... so far.
Sad

It's a shame the 2011 pick will be better than the 2010 compensation pick Confused

There's plenty of season left to fall below Pittsburgh and Baltimore for that #1 pick.
