With pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training the day after tomorrow, the 2009 season is but a bleak and distant memory and expectations are high for a winning 2010 season.

This poll question is a simple binary yes or no: Will the 2010 Diamondbacks make the playoffs? This poll will end on April 4, the day before the regular season opening game.

I think the Diamondbacks will win 86-87 games. Whether that will be enough to get them in the playoffs in a very balanced division or competitive wild card remains to be seen. I think they may fall 1 or 2 games short.

I don't vote in polls, but I think they'll have a good shot at making the playoffs. It's impossible to factor luck, but the big thing will be injuries. The teams that stay healthy will have a leg up. The keys will be to score baserunners at a better clip and to win close games. If they can be in the race at the end of July, it's on.

I voted no. The season depends on Webb. If he is healthy I think they have a legit shot. Without him, they don't have a chance.

I voted yes. I think the team on the field in 2010 is a huge improvement over the last couple years'. That gives the team a palpable sense of confidence and dare I say it, swagger. Sucking so bad in 2009 gives them the motivation. I'm looking forward to some aggressive baseball from this team.

I agree the pieces are there, but without Webb they don't have a chance.

I'm really optimistic about the new year. We have greatly improved in every subject, pitching, hitting, and fielding. I do agree that without Webb, we probably don't have a shot. I think we could have a shot at about 85-90 wins, and hopefully we'll be sweeping the Dodgers to put them farther back in the NL West Smile

I voted yes.

I don't have any reasons, apart from being a die-hard fan.

Just win baby. I like the look of this team, we have potential, but then again we have always had potential. I dno, I'm hoping for a playoff spot, but only 4 teams make it, lets hope 2010 is good to us.

I say No.

I'll even say we finish 3rd or worse in the division. Not going out on a limb though, really.

Love the ...: Way Justin Upton makes me believe in the sun, moon and clouds. Did I say "sun, moon and clouds"? I meant "razor-slim possibility of seeing another Willie Mays in my lifetime." Hate the ...: Deal that exiled Max Scherzer, which returned Edwin Jackson (he of the three good months in a seven-year career) and Ian Kennedy (post-aneurysm junkballer). Quote of note: "Sure, cutting Eric Byrnes will cost us in terms of gnarliness and shaggy-dudeism, but we think some of the younger guys are ready to pick up the slack. Why, just the other day, I saw Miguel Montero in Target buying a snowboardcross game for the clubhouse X-Box." - Josh Byrnes. Bump them up if ...: Stephen Drew and Chris Young up the pace of their journey towards stardom from "Bataan Death March" to "brisk."

I believe Stephen Drew and Chris Young are upping the pace of their journey toward stardom from "Bataan Death March" to "Trail of Tears"

Maybe Drew will pick up pointers from Chris Young on how to hit lefties, and vice versa. It'll be a long and painful process for them, as it is for us to watch.
