1.21 gigawatts?

So you're saying Webb's status is in a state of flux?

Maybe we could go back in time and let him know that the trip to Cabo isn't a good idea.

well we will get nothing for him, cause i doubt anyone will trade for him after not pitching in over a year and change.

it will be a sad ending to the BW17 era

I doubt it too, but I hope he feels like he stole the past two years from the fans Confused

If I were Webb, I'd sign a 1 year with AZ if he starts throwing again, then see about the future going elsewhere. He owes it to the fans and the organization, IMO.

When you mention players owing the Diamondbacks something the first name that popped in to my head was Richie Sexson. I'm not going to mention Ortiz and E. Byrnes because neither could repay the debt even if he wanted to.

Why does Sexson owe the team anything ?

1.) They traded for him, he wasn't a FA

2.) He didn't really make all that much money when he was here. 8.75 million, one year

3.) He suffered a serious and debilitating injury, from which he gave a valiant effort to come back from when he should have headed straight to surgery.

4.) Prior to suffering the injury, he was doing what he got paid to do, which is put up a .914 OPS

I never understood the vitrol so many D Back fans have towards Sexson. He was brought here in an ill conceived and lop sided trade, but that wasn't his fault. The guy got hurt, and did his best to come back.

He doesn't owe the D backs a damn thing.

Webb owes dbacks or the fans nothing. Richie also didn't owe dbacks anything. I did think that he was gonna hit 50 that year. (He did have 9 through 30 games)

Remember no one in this world is overpaid. If someone is willing to pay it then that is what you are worth. Even Erica.

I thank Webby for letting me see one of the best sinkers of all time.

Sad to see most fans have turned on him but the team gets a lot of the credit there. Crying or Very sad

Well, Webb, Jackson, Haren, IPK, Willis, Lopez is a pretty good starting 6 if you can get them all innings. Remember, IPK is really on an innnigs limit this year - so that depth is needed. Webb has to get back, Lopez cant turn into a pumpkin, and Willis hopefully can continue to get lucky, and hopefully improve his command?. Thats alot of hopefullys, but its not that crazy...

I agree with that too.

There might be some questions about how Webb handled his end of things with regards to how long it took him to go get the surgery last year, and how he's handled his rehab this year. But those are decisions that may or may not have had an impact on his recovery and inability to pitch.

Bottom line is the team got 4 years of Cy Young Caliber pitching out of the guy for some pretty cheap rates and the team picked up the option knowing the risks.

So he doesn't owe anything.......except his best effort to get back healthy and help the team. I'm not in a position to judge that effort. But there are doubts that have been expressed. Legit or not, who knows ?

Yep, I just don't want to see fans turn on him, assuming he's able to overcome his injury. The guy gave his prime years to the Diamondbacks at a team friendly cost.

I just hope he's able to come back from his injury and throw that awesome sinker again... for whatever team in MLB.

More on Webby from Nick.

RHP Brandon Webb threw another bullpen session and once again came away extremely encouraged about how he felt.

“It seems like every day I can tell a difference,” he said. “Everything that I do is better.

“My arm speed I thought was by far the best I’ve had. I’m real encouraged by everything. I feel like I’m piecing stuff together every day I’m off the mound. Something’s better.”

He said he threw about 65 pitches and will throw again on the upcoming road trip this weekend in Tampa.
