I don't know if he's done for the evening, but through 7 innings he's given up 0 runs and 0 walks and 3 hits and struck out 8.

I found a video of him warming up before an all-star game last year and he has a painful looking delivery. Dude's rotator cuff must be made of titanium.

That's a lot of movement and a high arm extension.

I see nothing as painful or an injury flag in that delivery. It almost reminds me a bit of a more overarmed and lower effort Brendan Donnelly. Donnelly's only had one major arm issue -- his Tommy John surgery -- and he's been very effective since returning; in fact, Donnelly leads more with his elbow/is a more arm thrower, and is much higher effort than Collmenter, two factors that definitely set him down the path to elbow implosion.

What I see Collmenter doing is emphasizing the utilization of the power generated through his hip rotation and gravity to make up for not having that talented of "stuff". Pretty low effort, considering the amount of kinetic energy, and I like the release angle.

There's not much stress on his rotator cuff like there would be if he were dead lifting his arm up to that release point. His balancing act, as I'll call it, guides his arm through that slot quite a lot. My only concern would be his ability to repeat his delivery consistently and, a byproduct of that, his ability to consistently hit his release point.

On more of an "'x' factor" side, I've only ever heard great things about Josh. I'm glad they're giving him the opportunity to compete against talent more in his age pool. He was definitely very overage for High-A (and I was feeling pretty disappointed in his stagnation at that level). He's a guy I've always pulled for; after all, how many guys do you know get their own mustache appreciation night?

Couldn't ask for a better AAA debut.

If he keeps that up, he may be in the big leagues before the end of the year...

I remember hearing Z grew mustaches with somebody in the minors. Was that Collmenter?

By the way, I love that arm angle.

Absolutely was. I'm sure Z was very excited to hear Collmenter would be joining him in Reno.

We have such good prospects that we can't put Jeff Bailey on the 40 and get a power rh bat in the lineup.

Can that be done without any real "injury?" I suppose you could put him on there for psychological issues, I know that's been done before.

Josh Collmenter has been sent down to AA Mobile after a couple of rough AAA starts. He's starting for the Bay Bears today, and Wes Roemer is starting for AAA Reno tonight.
