Looks like Edwin Encarnacion on the Blue Jays was sent down to Las Vegas, I'll have to tell him I was down in Phoenix when I saw him blast three homers in the game!

I'll also have to thank Ryan Roberts for that walk-off to bust up that 10 game losing streak Smile

I'm also going to get to see Pedro Ciriaco, he was selected for the Future's Game before the All-Star Game in Anahiem this year.

Also, Jordan Norberto of the Aces was selected to represent the team at the Triple-A All-Star Game. This guy needs to get called up, he's been putting up some fantastic relief numbers on the Aces this season.

Great game tonight!

Reno 9 - Las Vegas 2

Matt Torra threw the first Complete Game of the season for Reno, I honestly think this is the first complete game I've ever seen in the minors. He gave up a 2 run home run in the first, and those were the only runs he gave up.

Reno ended up to score 9 runs on 16 hits. John Hester his a 2 RBI double with the bases loaded, it would have been a grand slam if it weren't for Cashman Field (433 ft CF wall, his hit bounced off of the middle of the wall).

Pedro Ciriaco and Ryan Roberts made some fantastic defensive plays, seeing Roberts and Ciriaco made me wonder why Ojeda was still in the majors. I think that Ciriaco should be given a call up to the majors this September, I'd like to see how he does in the Show. Roberts was a little disappointing at the plate, and he was showing frustration every time he got out or striking out.

Allen's defense was a little shaky at first, his foot kept coming off of the bag on good throws, but he'd tag out the runner as his foot came off. He also smashed a 2 run homer out to RF, it was no doubt as it came off of the bat. Seeing Allen play 1B made me glad we have LaRoche currently, Allen couldn't do half of the things LaRoche can at 1st base.

I ran into a couple before the game who turned out to be John Hester's aunt and uncle, after the game we went down and met up with Hester and they invited me out to dinner. Hester is a really great guy, it was really neat to have the opportunity, we all might be going out again tomorrow night but we'll see; I felt bad about going because I felt I was intruding on a family thing, but they all insisted I come.

To make a long story short, all of the Aces players played fantastic baseball tonight, let's see how well they play tomorrow!

Bad play today, poor defense and poor hitting all of the way around.

Roberts hit a home run in the top of the 9th, but he stranded quite a few on base and the lack of production was really pissing him off. He was in Left Field today, he was responsible for 3 errors where two was in one play. He took a simple should-be single grounder and permitted it to go between his legs, he had to hustle back 10 yards to get the ball and heaved it to 3B off target sending it into the visitor's dugout.

Allen also made some poor defense at 1B, but his would-be errors were corrected by 2B Mark Halberg. He also struck out several times in key scoring situations.

The Aces also loaded the bases three times, and one of their 5 runs came as a walk with the bases loaded.

Roemer was a terrible Starting Pitcher today, they should have pulled him earlier but Butler didn't have anyone warming up until it was too late, 8-1. The Aces were also victims of pissing off the umpire, they were forced to forfeit the designated hitter because Hester had to come off of the bench and take over for Catcher after Coporan flipped out on a called strike three (with the bases loaded). As a result of the loss of the DH, Saul Rivera was forced to bat, and he walked on four straight.

So to make a long story short, the Aces played very poor baseball today, and didn't capitalise on any good scoring situations. Kinda like the dbacks!! The 'pen was untouchable though, never thought I'd say that about Carlos Rosa and Saul Rivera.

I've also noticed that the past two days the Aces have been using players as 1B Coach. Thursday was Chris Rahl and Friday was Drew Macias. I've never heard of this happening in the minors, is this unusual or have I just never noticed it before?

Offensive Players of the Week
For the week ending July 4

California League

Marc Krauss, Visalia

.581/.594/.968, 18-for-31, 3 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 15 RBI, 5 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 SB
Marc Krauss plated five runs in his second game of the week, but he was still just getting warmed up. He collected at least one RBI in each of the week's next five games, and he scored in every game but one. The D-backs prospect was especially hot from Tuesday to Thursday, going 11-for-14 with two homers, two doubles, three runs scored and seven RBIs over those three games. When the 2009 second-rounder "cooled off" on Friday, he still had a four-RBI game and swatted a two-run homer.

Pioneer League

Richie Rowland, Missoula

.462/.500/.769, 12-for-26, 2 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 6 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 0 SB
Richie Rowland, teammate and brother to 2010 third-round pick Robby Rowland, has made the Diamondbacks front office look very wise for grabbing the duo. After going 0-for-1 in his first pro game, Rowland has hit in each of his following contests, and he's hit especially well this week. He was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs on Monday, doubled again in another two-hit game Wednesday and slapped out three hits on Thursday. He finished the week by homering on Saturday and then again on Sunday. Rowland's .488 batting average leads the Pioneer League.

Offensive Players of the Week
For the week ending July 11

California League

Paul Goldschmidt, Visalia
.519/.581/1.222, 14-for-27, 4 2B, 0 3B, 5 HR, 9 RBI, 9 R, 4 BB, 7 K, 0 SB
D-backs prospect Paul Goldschmidt's 18 home runs in the Pioneer League in 2009 tied him for tops in that league (with Midwest League Player of the Week Brian Cavazos-Galvez), and he's second in all of the Minors with 24 homers this season. So, this week's power display was no freak occurrence, but it was still eye-popping. After homering for the second time in as many games on Monday, he had two more longballs on Tuesday. He slapped out three doubles and four singles between Wednesday and Friday, and he reached into his old bag of tricks for the weekend. He homered once on Saturday and again on Sunday, totaling three RBIs and four runs scored over the two games. Goldschmidt was also named Cal League Player of the Week on May 17.
