That is funny, Justin.

Maybe someone could help me out a little on the horse picture. I'm usually really good with grammar, and I don't see why the comma is necessary in the first part (other than for humor purposes). Am I just parsing the sentence wrong? It seems to me the "off his horse part" doesn't need to be separated from the rest of the sentence with a comma. Sorry, I'm not trying to rain on the humor of the picture. Anyone want to weigh in?

You're right, it's not needed in the first sentence and is actually an improper use of a comma. If anything, the second sentence should hyphenate "jack-off" to clarify that the two words make up one (slang) verb.

Whew! I'm glad you see the same thing. And you're right about the hyphen. But that does call into question the picture. The humor is there, but when you try to do humor like that, you damn sure better get things right. Otherwise, you have people like me pointing out that the attempt at grammar humor is uncorrect. Wink

To properly use the comma in the first phrase, the proper name, "Jack," would be set off in commas - much as was just done here. As such, the sentence would read, "Helping your uncle, Jack, off his horse."

I was always taught that there was no need for separation by commas for a proper noun such as this case. But your logic does seem to go with the initial picture's intent.
