Just got a text about that. We'll see.

This firing is on the players.

I only blame some of the stupid pitching decisions by BoMel...hitting is clearly all on the players.

The obvious question is: who's the replacement?

And fielding...

We were praising the guy in 2007, now he's fired. He's just a scapegoat.

I didn't agree with all the BP decisions, but he knows a helluvalot more than anybody here does. My only gripe is with the constantly fluctuating lineup. Establish a lineup/positions, and stick with it.

I'm hoping it's Gibson. Maybe he can be like a Backman without the rap sheet...

Hale would be the best choice. He actually knows how to manage young players. Gibson hasn't shown that he knows how to manage anything yet.

I have a hard time feeling happy about this.

Good luck in the future BoMel.

On the one hand I win the pool Wink

On the other hand these two had Tim Floyd at the UofA.

But they do work for the flagship station.

OK now they are talking about replacements Mark Grace or Matty Williams.

I'm waiting for the presser.

Per Gambo, Hale won't be the guy.

Yeah - i pretty much echo this. I am a little more OK with linup changes based on matchups - but i agree with the overall theme.

Melvin was fired because baseball is a results-based industry and his results were shitty.

“You want to point fingers, point them at me, them at the other players. We’re the ones out there who haven’t been getting it done. “This has nothing to do with Bob. Bob and the coaching staff are very meticulous
about giving us the information that we need to go out there and win. I think they do a very good job with that.”

That may be true Mr. Byrnes but it’s much easier to
fire a manager in the last year of his contract than a $30
million dollar outfielder hitting .139!

And that my friends is why BoMel got canned.

Are you saying there is no objective measure by which to judge coaches because they don't swing the bat and throw pitches?

Any linkable (I.e. forwardable, vs. me saying some people on the Internet heard it on the radio) sources yet? I have ESPN news on but it's all Manny and Brett, nothing on the scroll.

I would disagree. He's a lot closer to the situations and knows more about the inner workings of the team but the decisions he made on the field made less sense overall than about half of the people here.

Was he an idiot? No.

Is he smarter than Levski or Shoe? Not even close.

I bet i could coach the 1927 yankees to more wins than Tony Larussa could with these Dbacks.

Im not absolving Melvin of all blame - just some of it.

They are reporting that the move will be made before the start of the series with the Nats tomorrow. We might not have an official story for a little while.

Then it better be someone from outside the organization. I really hope they don't just throw it down to Gibson.

They are the flagship station. If they botch this story then someone else is going to get fired.

They are now ripping into the Eric Byrnes signing and how they were against it too Laughing

Placing it squarely on the shoulders of ship jumper Jeff Moorad.
