The hazzards of making mistakes to Albert Pujols when he is locked in.

Those 3 ERs came on 2 swings of the bat by Albert.

Classic "hang 'em and bang 'em" results.

The first was a hanging slider and Albert hit it a long, long way.

Sure - getting through that linup with only 3 runs wouldnt be bad at all if he didnt leave after 5.1.

don't be a hater Laughing

Giants booth guys(radio and TV) are hashing over what they think the Giants may do with Randy's injury this close to the break. Putting him on the DL to give him some extra rest is something they agree would be prudent on the Giants FO.

I found it interesting hearing Krukow's take on what Randy has meant to the Giants so far this season. His positive influence on Cain. How Randy has been teaching Cain that conditioning is important, so that you can be there mentally and physically late in games. The 6th-7th-8th inning are the parts of a game that produces wins, according to Krukow. Randy has Lincecum and Cain learning the importance of these lessons. On what it takes to be an elite pitcher.

You see it this year. Lincecum and Cain are finishing a lot of games. A couple days ago, the Giants led the majors in shutting out opponents.

Krukow and the gang were saying that Randy has been a huge positive influence on the Giants clubhouse. Not just to the pitchers, but the whole team.

What a difference a year makes.

Randy may be behaving better this year, but the Giants players that he's positively influencing in San Francisco are more mature than those that he played with last year in Arizona. It takes two.

Krukow and Kuiper were right.

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants' hopes of benefiting from a full season of Randy Johnson's services ended Monday when they placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder.

Well - hopefully for him its only a month. If that is the case - it might be a nice midseason break for him that might be a benefit.

Latest on Randy's shoulder:

Quote:
LHP Randy Johnson (strained shoulder) is going to have an MRI on Monday to see how much progress he's made. "We're still being optimistic we'll get good news Monday and he'll start his rehab," Bochy said before the game

Per KTAR:
RJ out with torn rotator cuff; will be out at least 3 more weeks. Giants want to get him right for a playoff run.

Randy is now listed as on the 60-day DL. Gone until the 1st part of Sept at best.

Mike LaCoss told a funny story at the Giants 1989 Team Reunion. They recently aired clips from the Friday Luncheon.

LaCoss told the story of how on one of his starts Roger Craig decided to pencil in Bob Brenly at 3rd base.

Brenly was having a terrible game defensively at 3rd, committing 3 errors on routine grounders hit straight to him. LaCoss was becoming visibly upset with Brenly's gaffs when he looked over and noticed his manager coming out of the dugout.

LaCoss stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of Roger apparently coming to get him. When Roger extended his arm to begin motioning to the bullpen LaCoss screamed, "You're going to take me out?!"

Roger Craig nodded his head and spoke, "Yep."

"Don't take me out!", screamed LaCoss. "Take HIM out!", as LaCoss pointed over at Brenly.

Big Unit officially ends 22-year career
Left-hander won 307 games, is second all-time in K's

Farewell and Godspeed Randy. Good luck in the future, it was a pleasure watching you in your prime while I was growing up.

edit- I know it says 307 in the link I provided. That was what MLB.com had, since corrected. I did not want to change it since that would be plagiarism techinically. (My original major was Journalism)
