Called out on strikes...no-no's are great to see no matter who threw it. Great game by Sanchez.

Congrats to Sanchez, man it would be something if Lincecum and Sanchez went back to back no-no's.

Screw the Kemp catch, THAT was the webgem of the night.

Padres batter #1 (he doesnt deserve to be named) squared to bunt with 2 outs in the 9th. Is that the Padres secret weapon to break up no hitters? Not the first time, of course. What a classless organization.

Congrats to Sanches. Randy looked happy for him.

I hate the Giants, but that was really really cool. His family was at the game, and his dad came down to hug him and shed some tears.

Congrats to Jonathan Sanchez. Pretty f-in cool.

OK I teared up when his Dad came down from the stands and into the dugout to give him a tearful hug. That was a beautiful moment right there. Congrats to Jonathan Sanchez -- and to his dad who was lucky enough to be there to share the moment with his son. That's the pure essence of baseball right there. A father and son sharing a moment together.

First start since June 22. He had been in the bullpen. I'm sure others knew this, but its news to me and I don't think he'll be back in the bullpen for a while.

x2! I'd love to know what, if anything, RJ said to Sanchez during the game.

Im sure RJ didnt say much. I did see him give JS a hug after - but i cant imaging RJ saying anything to him - thats one of those unwritten rules.

Somehow I doubt he said anything during it. He said something like, "you did good kid" when he congratulated him after the final out.

ESPN radio says this was the first game his Dad has seen him start. They didn't specify whether they meant major league or any game at all, but I suspect they meant major league. What a game to choose!

I did not! Link? Mad

I'm not saying I'm not, but it was a ton-o-love who made that error.

I said "tequilaized", not "drunk". There's a difference. Cool

You'll know when I'm drunk. Shocked Embarassed

It's an unwritten rule after about the fourth or fifth inning. Until then, players usually don't think much of it. I'm sure RJ wasn't talking to him in the seventh or eighth--but did he say anything earlier?

A rare perk to having the Gnats feed as my local one is that I was able to watch the postgame interview without the MLB Extra Innings package shutting it off after the last pitch. He said his Dad had just gotten in last night and, as you mentioned TAP, it was the first time he'd ever seen his son start in the majors. Jonathan mentioned that his Dad had seen him pitch in NY against the Mets, but Sanchez came out of the bullpen in that game.

Bet things have changed on this front since this article was posted early on Friday:

Quote:
The Pirates are "pushing hard" to trade All-Star second baseman Freddy Sanchez, according to a National League executive yesterday, but no deal with any team looked imminent as of last night, according to multiple other sources.

San Francisco and Colorado are two teams with which the Pirates have spoken, the source said, but there are as many as four or five more.

The Giants apparently would be willing to move left-handed starter Jonathan Sanchez, currently a reliever. He alone could not complete a deal for Freddy Sanchez, but the Giants' system has plenty of pitching prospects.

In my defense, on Baseball Tonight they said it was Sandoval as well. Then corrected it to Uribe a short time later. Uribe was playing 3b. Oh well. Laughing

I smelled tequila coming from their studio.
