Good sign for the Giants and just a 2 year deal makes it even more impressive

Good signing for the Giants, and Affeldt is going to a good ballpark. Affeldts road ERA last year was 1.77. Just getting out of Great American is going to make his stats better.

But yes, I agree, a good signing.
It does tell me, however, that the market for lower end free agents may be tough.
Once the big clubs spend the big bucks on big free agents, there may not be many for small fries

Completely agree, like I've said for awhile, I think you could see a lot of free agents, not named Sabathia, Teixeira, etc, sign shorter term 1-2 year deals and then hope to cash in again when the economy and market corrects itself down the line. This is gonna be a great offseason for teams to lock up good talent at reasonable $ w/o the risk of long term deals. Too bad this organization isn't in the position to take advantage of the conditions.

The more I see this guy, the better this deal looks for the Giants.
