Hospice dog retiring after years on job
Sundance is taking a rest after years of comforting patients and acting as Hospice of the Valley's spokesdog.

Poor Sundance -- laid low by the bane of the bigger dog breeds: arthritis of the hips. (Boy, can I relate to THAT...)

Thank goodness that there are now 175 more like him bringing such unconditional love and joy to those in need. My Lab is certifiably nutsy; but there's little doubt of her love for us.

Enjoy your retirement, Sundance!

our friends gave us this dog, the first person they gave him to only lasted one day, so far he is a perfect angel , FUN FUN FUN

he came with the name McLovin, it seems to fit him really well, we call him Mc for short, which makes us laugh(my wife and I are both Irish)

Congrats Dewberry. It's funny -- I was just watching Superbad last night. Still a hilarious movie, IMO. Anyway, he looks like a pure pug, and I've never met one of those I didn't like. Enjoy him!

Forgot this thread existed. Thought I would go ahead and share.

Back in June, while in Chicago (where my sister lives alone and goes to school during the year), my sister bought a pug to keep her company. The moment she brought her home we all fell in love with her. She immediately became our newest family member.

We named her Schmutzy, which means "dirty" in Yiddish, in reference to her fawn fur and dark/dirty face. Laughing

She is currently the only snowbird dog I know of, spending the spring and summer in Chicago and the fall and winter in Scottsdale (which is great since she loves sunbathing, which we're careful about letting her do). She is absolutely adorable, one of the most energetic and animated dogs I have ever seen, and has been such a precious addition to our family. And yes, she's extremely pampered and spoiled. Smile

Here she is "packing" for her trip to Arizona:

Here she is practicing proper travel procedure for her airplane trip (this was her reaction when we told her how long she had to stay in there Wink ) :

And here she is testing for her driver's license. Boy they sure grow up fast...

Haha thought I would share those few pics on a lazy sunday Smile

Not dogs, but I rescued the kittens several months ago when in Lakeside. My sister took them in and they've grown significantly since then.

I haven't checked this thread in a while. I'm happy to see all the new pictures. Also, nice use of a recycled MGD box.

Crash and Mack just a few minutes ago. If Crash can't be laying his head on one of us, he'll use Mack.

Just remembered I forgot to post this.

We decided about three weeks ago, after much deliberation, that it was time to bring in a new family member, as Schmutzy -- who is an extremely social dog -- was becoming increasingly bored and needy at home.

A couple days later, we brought home Shadow! No, not our fellow board poster, but a cute boy puppy black pug.

He's extremely easy-going, always obedient, and is always very happy (evident by his tiny curly tail wagging all the time Very Happy ).

The two are best buds, although -- being puppies -- they are more high and low in their interaction than the happy medium of most paired dogs... and by that I mean they like to "wrestle" quite a bit, and then chill for a little while. Smile

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/04/06/explosive.sniffing.dogs/index.html?hpt=C1

Quote:
A man walks through Washington's Union Station with a backpack and puts it down by a potted plant. No one notices him.

He looks like any traveler. But inside his backpack are explosives.

Five minutes later, a yellow Labrador retriever named Zeta enters the same crowded room, straining at her handler's leash.

She has picked up the scent of black powder in the air and tracks it to the foot of the ficus tree, where she sits and waits eagerly for a reward.

This is not a thwarted terrorist strike but a demonstration of what a "vapor wake" dog can do.

Awesome news!!! Ocho agrees!!!

Here's Ocho as a 6 week old:

I saw this picture on the 'net and we went to the Fresno rescue shelter the next day. That's almost 200 miles away.

Sadly, Graham passed away yesterday just shy of 14 as a result of heart failure. He had a good life, and the final symptoms came on quickly, so he didn't suffer too much. Never having had to put a dog to sleep before, it sucked far worse than I imagined.

Hank, I am so sorry for you and your family. Having to put a valued pet down is one of the worst feelings in the world. It does sound like he had a great life and that there was very little suffering at the end. That's really all any of us can ask for.

It can bring tears to a grown man. I know.

Hank, so sorry to hear about Graham's heart failure. Glad he had 14 good years.
