Wishing Graham (and Hank) all the best.

Good luck Hank and especially Graham.

I can't believe I never posted a picture of Ocho, our 3 year old Boxer/Chihuahua (his mom) + ??? mix. He's a real ladies' man. Very Happy

Post surgery, Graham is doing well. The biggest concern was the anesthetic, since he is old and has some heart issues, but it wasn't a problem. In a week or two, he should be as good as new.

Awesome news!!! Ocho agrees!!!

Here's Ocho as a 6 week old:

I saw this picture on the 'net and we went to the Fresno rescue shelter the next day. That's almost 200 miles away.

Jennifer Parks / KTAR.com today wrote:
Nineteen dogs have been found dead of the heat in the past three weeks, according to the Arizona Humane Society.

"Just in this past weekend alone, eight," said Kimberly Searles with the Humane Society. "From Friday to Monday, eight dogs."

Searles said one dog was left tied with no access to shade or water.

"The dog was tied out in the yard," she said. "It was abandoned, apparently. There was a little tree over there, but unfortunately, the dog was tied up to the tether pole and obviously could not get to it."

Searles said dogs "need to have access to all-day shade or shelter where there can be a breeze going through. They've got to be able to be out of the sun, they need to have access to fresh drinking water -- in a non-metal container."

People need to think how they would feel to be left in the heat, she said.

"Keep your pets indoors. You wouldn't walk on the sidewalk in bare feet, so why would you have your pet do that? Why would you have your pet sitting out in the sun all day long?"

Searles urged people who see dogs left in the heat to call the Humane Society.

Meanwhile, the bad economy has left Humane Society shelters overflowing.

Dr. Nancy Bradley with the Humane Society urged people who must get rid of a pet to try to find it a new home and use the shelter as a last resort.

I say an eye for an eye. Tie these idiots up and leave them in the sun all day without water. Mad

Can I help? Evil or Very Mad

While we were house hunting here in Tucson back in 2005 we looked at a house that had a dog tied up on the roof and the house was empty. He was nearly dead. We called 911 and they managed to get him down. I wish I could have found the sick bastard that did that to that poor dog.

Spreading awareness about animal cruelty and trying to stop it is good and all, but I have a request: might we be able to get back to this being a happy thread? I love all the doggie pics, but the last couple of stories have wiped the smile off my face when I click in here.

Here, this should help get the thread back on track.

Macy is the little Min-Pin cuddled up with Stoney, who sadly died last year.

This is Marley, a mastiff/pit-bull mix, a breed known as the American Bandogge. Marley is a big monster now, and ate 13 cupcakes off the kitchen counter yesterday.

Beautiful dogs! Will Macy and Marley be creating their own new breed?

This is Charlie (or Charmayne as her name is officially). She's of no particular breed and came out a little blurry because my sister took this picture with her phone. It was a great birthday present.

My own life is boring and I'm not a cute puppy, so I decided that if I was going to join Twitter, I'd do it from the perspective of my dog.

Sugar, found her when she was a pup, in the middle of the road, during summer, starving, thirsty and a cubs fan. I nursed her back to health, trained her and now her loyalties lie with the Dbacks and their fans. Sugar will attack a person if that person is even thinking about being a Cubs fan. Sugar will slaughter entire villages in Palestine if the Cubs ever win a series. Sounds harsh I know. But I dont think the folks in Palestine have anything to worry about cuz the Cubs are never going to take another series. Ever.
