Glad nothing hit the ballpark tonight as I parked the JEEP on the street and didnt feel like bailing water.

Saw some nice lightning going on in North Scottsdale on the drive home tonight though.

Im thinking covered parking for tomorrows game. Cant get lucky two nights in a row Laughing

Well, Gustav is upon us here, and just letting everyone know that I will probably be away from the board for quite awhile (hopefully not).

Just want to extend a thank you for everyone here who really enhance the baseball watching experience by bringing such wonderful knowledge (or sometimes lackthereof) to the forums.

I hope to be back soon, and I hope all of you could extend your best wishes to not only me and my family, but everyone in the affected region.

GO DBACKS!!

I'm here in Tucson this weekend. We are helping my mother in law move. Anyways, I got sent out during the rain tonight to get take out in the area around downtown/University. All the roads are flooded. It is as if Tucson has never heard of a revolutionary idea called the "storm sewer."

I really hate this city.

Rolling Eyes

Did you see Phoenix last week? Have they heard of the "storm sewer", either?

Communities in this region are in a pickle when it comes to storm drainage. While they don't receive as much rain as other places, they get it all in about 7 servings. Flash floods are no joke: it's a massive amount of water in a very minimal time-frame. To truly accommadate that level of water in such a short time-frame would require one of the most extensive "storm sewers" humanity has ever seen. So it's either invest billions in drainage infrastructure; or deal with wash-outs 7-10 times per year. It's a rather simple choice.

Don't hate on cities for making wise fiscal decisions.

Also, don't let the in-laws boss you around. Tell them you're calling for delivery.

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Monsoon storms pummel parts of metro Phoenix

Spectacular lightning and thunder rolled in over Red Mountain yesterday afternoon at 3:30 and joined with torrential rain to escort me on Shea Blvd through Fountain Hills, down Beeline Hwy, through Mesa, and into Gilbert. It was refreshing to see our 2010 monsoon finally stand up and introduce itself.

No reports of damage. Only UOP Stadium seems to have suffered this year. But it is still early!

My wife and daughter were driving from Surprise when the storm that hit the UofP came through. The wind and the rain were so strong that they pulled off the road and ducked into a Kohl's until it passed by.

I believe them, too, because ordinarily they don't need any excuse whatsoever to go shopping! Laughing
