More in Rosenthals Article here

They are now interested in Dunn, Hudson, and Wolf for about the same price. Makes sense to me. If LA signs hudson, we get their 17th pick.

Pretty cool story about Manny...

Quote:
As Sadler related Sunday, he introduced himself one day during the offseason at the training facility to Ramirez, who immediately recalled telling Giants left-hander Barry Zito in a Dodger Stadium elevator that "No. 34 has good stuff." Sadler struck out Ramirez in their lone confrontation last year.

Sadler was about to quit Athletes' Performance due to a personal financial crunch.

"I'm newly engaged and I made some decisions in my life," Sadler said. He mentioned this to Ramirez, who said, "We'll take care of that."

Manny news

http://www.insidesocal.com/dodgers/2009/02/todays-manny-no.html

Quote:
I asked him if the club has made any offers beyond the two we already know about, the two-year, $45 million one from October and the one-year, $25 million from a couple of weeks ago. He said no more offers had been made. Dylan Hernandez from the Times then asked, ``Has there been a counteroffer?'' and Ned said, ``Sort of.'' He wouldn't comment beyond that, but it's clear he was talking about a proposal that was so far out of the Dodgers' range as to be unrealistic.

Manny needs Frosting

Quote:
"When you're that good of a cake," Boras says, "it takes little frosting.

"Manny is now the face of that franchise. So it comes down to a choice of winning or losing. Dodgers fans know what life was like without him. And they know what life was like with him. The truth of the matter is that he makes that much of a difference."

Was just told Dodgers have told Boras and Manny to take their offer or leave it. That he can go sit out if he wants. This is coming to a head.

Lets see what happens now.

Pardon the language but Manny Rameriez can eat a bag of dicks. He has some fucking nerve to be rejecting an offer for $25M this year and a player option for $20M the next year. Not only is this more than 99.99% of the population will make in their lifetime but more than anyone else in MLB can dream of getting.

Manny needs to remember that he's the piece of shit that whined, cried, and flat out dogged it last season until finally getting traded to the Dodgers. The guy may have a shitload of talent but he doesn't deserve the money he's getting.

I think bag of dicks works just fine...

Quote:
.....$45 million offer, and that they only wanted to hear one of two possible answers: yes or no.
Instead, Boras came back to them with a counter proposal of increasing the offer to two years and $55 million, a deal that would carry an average annual value of $27.5 million -- the exact same AAV carried by the 10-year, $275 million contract of Alex Rodriguez, another Boras client.

Why does everyone assume that Manny desperately wants to take a contract from the Dodgers?
Manny wants a contract that Manny likes...

Dodgers pull offer off the table.

Manny sits for now.

Here's hoping he sits a long long time. Wink

Going to wait a second before I cry. Would love to see ESPN Deportes get this wrong, with Manny and LA not close.

Here's a link to the Deportes article, btw

I'm not a fantastic Spanish speaker, but here's my rough translation of the first sentence:

Quote:
Después de todo, Manny Ramírez seguirá siendo el jardinero izquierdo de los Dodgers de Los Angeles.

After all, Manny Ramirez will continue to be the left fielder for the Dodgers of Los Angeles Confused

ESPN still reporting the deal is not done yet. Crasnick has word from Boras that no agreement has been reached and Stark has another source indicating the same.

the deal will get done.

Dbacks delegated to 2nd place in the NL west.
And that's being generous to Arizona's chances.
