They really want him up here by September, don't they?

Quote:
General Manager Josh Byrnes said that Schlereth reaching the major leagues this season is a long shot.

Byrnes said Schlereth could be a candidate for the Arizona Fall League.

“I think we’ve got to figure out what we want to do with him,” Byrnes said. “This will be a good step. We’ll see how he does in South Bend.”

I traveled to Fort Wayne last night to see the Silverhawks game. Schlereth came on and although the scoreboard was showing him hitting 98 (an 78 and 84 mph change) he was all over the place. He walked 3, struck out 2, gave up 1 run in 1 inning of work.

I was pretty amazed by his speed, looks like he has a rocket arm... however, in the situation he got himself in, I would have taken control over speed. I got his autograph as I wasn't sure how long he would be at this level Smile

..and since the Silverhawks had a Silent Auction at Saturday's game, I bid and succesfully won Daniels Jersey... just in case he's not here too long. Smile

Hey whatever happened to this guy.

All I remember was at draft time we heard things like: "Major league ready" "Fastrack to the Bigs" "September call-up" "Will help the Bullpen soon"

What happened?

Schlereth threw his first bullpen session of the spring on Sunday and immediately caught the eye of Arizona manager Bob Melvin.

"You can see what all the talk has been about," Melvin said.

He's lucky that when he pulled a knife on them, they didn't sink a tusk into him! Javelina aren't exactly in possession of a sweet disposition... Very Happy

I once saw two Javelina on a neighbor's driveway while I was driving home from a rehearsal for a show.

Unfortunately, it was a male and female javelina. I don't feel like going into much more detail, but what I saw that night definitely scarred me for life Shocked

I see they didn't quote everything Melvin said...

"HOLY SH$%^&" Melvin said after seeing that power curve.
