Well I see a thread for every other team in this message board except one for the Phoenix Coyotes, so I have decided to create one. Today was a pretty big day for the Yotes, we have traded two of our defenseman Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton as well as a second round pick for the Florida Panthers captain Olli Jokinen. If you haven't heard of him then I am letting you all know he is a center, and is a great playmaker as well as a goal scorer. He should have a big impact on our offense, and he will be able to help many of our young prospects. We also drafted Mikkel Boedker with the number 8 overall pick, who is said to be a very solid left winger, with great speed and has the ability to create plays. It's been a big day for Coyotes fans, and I hope this helps everyone realize there is a hockey team in Arizona who is making big strides to make the playoffs.

At the time of the strike, I was equally a baseball fan and hockey fan. I didnt start to follow it again until sometime last year. Im Excited about getting Jokinen.

YEP. Never been in that stadium until the wife drug me to that Kenny Chesney show. Bad service inside the place. Won't be back.

I'll pack up and go see the Hockey when my Wings are in town or go to the arena if Bruce is playing but thats about it.

Both places should have never been built there. The Hockey owner or former owner Im not sure is a Shell game con man and you have Bidwell owning the football team.

I miss my Hockey too. I was a season ticket holder the first 3 years at AWA. Also miss NFL games on Sunday at Sun Devil stadium. Nothing like picking up a ticket from a scalper for $5 bucks, sitting outside on a nice winters day, reading the Sunday paper and if the game got good in the 4th quarter watching it.

College Football is my big deal now as a sports fan. Have season tickets to both ASU and UofA and most saturdays am watching games from 8am pregames until Hawaii is done on the Island late night.

About 70 days until kickoff Very Happy

Also Jared Staal is the youngest brother of the Staal family. His three brothers Eric Staal, Marc Staal, and Jordan Staal are all in the NHL and so far have been pretty succesful.

What are they going to turn the Lightning into the Yankees of the NHL? We already have the Rangers (also a New York team, figures).

About the coaching news, I think thats cool Melrose is getting another coaching job.

A good pickup, he should be are enforcer for this year. He's a big guy, and isn't scared of anyone. He will protect our younger players like Turris and Mueller, and hopefully help keep Carcillo out of the box.

Theirs also a pretty good article on Olli and what his role is going to be on the Coyotes, and also how he has never played in the playoffs in his pretty impressive carrer. Lets hope he can help this team keep building, and guide the youngsters and teach them how to play good tough hockey...click it or ticket

Hockey is back and the season is going smoothly so far. The Yotes are 2-0 and have a game tonight in Chicago. Lets stay solid on the road.

I caught some of that game [Mrs. SnakePit was out at a jewelry part - I begged out of that!]. Shame about the first half, as the Coyotes dug themselves too much of a hole with giveaways of possession. I loved Doan's first goal: steal the puck, two strides, shot, goal.

As an aside, much credit also to the Coyotes organization. Mrs. SnakePit helps with a group called KidTix, who give out tickets for events, to families who wouldn't normally get a chance to go to shows, games, etc. The Coyotes just provided them with *two hundred* tickets for a game at Jobing.com in March, an amazing act of community spirit and kindness.
