I'm sure a lot of people have heard this story on ESPN (or other sports news), but it warrants a topic in this area.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/columns/story?columnist=hays_graham&id=3372631&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab4pos1

2 opponents had to help a girl circle the bases following a home run, after she injured her knee rounding 1st base. Rules stipulate that if anyone on her team helps her, she'd only be credited with a 2 run single. Other team's players knew that if they helped her - she'd be credited with her first (and only) career home run. Pretty incredible story.

I heard it on Gambo and Ash. Gambo took the position that this would never happen with guys.

Hes wrong. Maybe not with ALL guys - but thats what makes this a nice story - that some people out there get it.

Exactly. I'd expect that level of sportsmanship from my kids.

I sorta misplaced this in the anything goes section, but Ill post the link in here too so that its a complete story. Very uplifting, always great to see good sportsmanship. (or should that be sportswomanship, for the ladies? Laughing )

Its an ESPN story.

great story.....

drives me nuts that stories like this gets pushed aside and stories like athletes doing bad get all the bad press...

yes i know bad press sells, but once in a while throw us (me) a bone and have this be a lead story on Sports Center and maybe, just maybe young people would see it and do the same

just a thought

Truly a wonderful and heart-warming story.

Nothing in the comment that follows is meant to diminish in any way what is described in the story above:

Maybe the next time the {Rockies/insert opposing team of your choice} are embarrassing the Diamondbacks, they'll be willing to forfeit to devote the time to teaching our team how to play the game...
