Obviously not wishing an injury on another player...this is going to hurt the Rockies. I certainly expected him to come around and start hitting. As much as Barmes has played better this year (so far), there's no way I'd rather have him at short over Tulo. Defense on the infield just got worse for COL, too.

Rockies are 10 games back and in last place. Only the third time a defending league champion was this far back this early in the season.

Kansas City Royals 5-11 5/3/81 10
Boston Red Sox 10-15 5/3/87 10
Colorado Rockies 11-19 5/3/08 10

Holliday went on DL today, Hawpe and Barmes yesterday.

Their season is looking pretty much cooked.

Really, it looks like a 2 team race. It has for a while. But it just seems so unlikely any of the Col, Sfo, or SD will be able to mount much of a charge.

Yeah...cuz it coulnd't possibly be that the GM signed too many over the hill, over paid former stars. It's all Willie's fault. Poor guy. The ownership should fire Minaya, and give a formal, written apology to Willie Randolph, and an immediate guaranteed extension.

I agree that minaya has given him that team taht isnt exactly up and coming - but i cant believe a team with Santana, Reyes, Beltran, Wright, Wagner, as well as some decent other pieces around is THAT bad (23-25 i think). Ryan Church is a pretty good player. Maine is alright... Oliver Perez - eh... Thier catcher is pretty good...

I agree that Castillo, Delgado, easley are pretty much done.

Edit - of course - their main problem is pitching, and there isnt much Willie can do about that.

I never said it would be RIGHT to fire him - just that it is always a tenuous spot to be a manager in NY.

Check out their lineup. Seems like Jesus forgot about them this year...

Either that, or Hurdle made a deal with the Devil last year, and is paying now...

But no worries, I'm sure they're still out-praying the other team...

Cubs were down 9-1 and just cameback in the bottom of the 7th to take a 10-9 lead off a Mark DeRosa two run bomb.

Rockies suck.

The cubs are the reason I checked my predictatron standings this morning... I wanted to see if I had picked them to win the NL but alas, I had them losing in the NLCS to the mets with the bosox winning it all.

It looks like we won't get to look at Tool-O's horrible line for much longer...

Troy Tulowitzki slipped on his Colorado Rockies gear Monday and sank into a comfortable chair in the clubhouse, joking with teammates that passed by. For now, this was only a pit stop into town. But the smooth-fielding shortstop could be back with the team by the end of the week. Tulowitzki and middle infielder Clint Barmes will head to Triple-A Colorado Springs on a rehab assignment beginning Tuesday night. If all goes well, Tulowitzki could be back with the Rockies as soon as Friday night. He's been out since tearing his left quadriceps muscle on April 29. "I'm excited," Tulowitzki said. "I know it's getting close. I'm crossing my fingers -- hopefully everything goes OK and I'm here with the guys on Friday."

I completely read "slipped on" as his gear being on the floor and Tulo slipping on it like one slips on a banana peel and was all set to ridicule him for getting himself further hurt by being a slob. I might still pretend that happened.

Maybe Upton can continue slumping and all three of them can be sub-Mendoza buddies.

Hey. Tulowitzki is almost hitting his weight, now that his average is a robust .148!

More bad luck for Tulo: cuts his hand open on a maple bat...on the 15-day DL.
