I think the waiting periods depend on the subject and the type of attention that they have called upon themselves. Sort of like the defamation that rules that differ based on whether the person is a public figure. I think the waiting period has passed for Rihanna.

Damn Shocked

From todays Boston Globe.

Jamie McCourt is asking for $988,845 a month in support from her estranged husband, which means Dodgers owner Frank McCourt would get change back from a million;

Are Fossum or Albie Lopez doing anything these days? I know maybe they could sign Elmer "the Fudd" Dessens again. Laughing

Fossum is pitching in Japan, Dessens played in the Mexican winter league during the offseason.

Dodger fans need a code of conduct so the brass get UCLA's "Slick Rick" to tell them how to behave. Laughing

I finally got to check out Camelback Ranch today, saw the Dodgers vs. Angels. It's a great ballpark, best current spring training facility for sure. Too bad it has the fatal flaw of being filled with Dodgers fans. Loved seeing Manny lollygag and get thrown out at home.

An in-depth article on USA Today about the McCourt divorce and how it affects the Dodgers

Some random tidbits from the article.

Quote:
This is a divorce, Dodgers fans fear, that could ruin their franchise, for which McCourt paid $430 million in 2004.
"Just the uncertainty of the future and what this divorce is going to do to the team has people very apprehensive," former Dodgers general manager Kevin Malone says. "I think it's a justifiable concern. People don't know if the McCourts will still own the team."

Quote:
"There's been an impression created that this is going to have a big impact on the team, when, in fact, it's having no impact," McCourt says. "There's almost a disconnect in what is written and what the reality is. What's important for the fans to know is that it's business as usual here.
"The team isn't for sale. I'm going to own the team for a long time. And, God willing one day, my four boys will own the team."

Quote:
Bert Fields, one of Jamie McCourt's attorneys, reiterated Monday that his client believes she is entitled to half the team, valued last year by Forbes at more than $700 million, because the postnuptial agreement was never designed to give Frank McCourt full ownership.
"Mr. McCourt is ducking the issue," Fields says. "He thinks he's going to get ownership of the Dodgers and 95% of the assets.
"They agreed to be 50-50 (owners). And she doesn't want to sell. She loves baseball. She has the ability to buy out Frank if he wants. If he doesn't want to sell, they'll have to figure out a way to run the team together."

Quote:
"They are lying to the public," says Los Angeles radio talk show host Joe McDonnell, a broadcaster for 34 years. "You don't go from a payroll of $110 million to $80 million and say the divorce has got nothing to do with it. How they can have a payroll less than the Minnesota Twins is a ... joke. These fans aren't idiots. But they're insulting their intelligence."
Jamie McCourt accuses her husband of lying about his net wealth, with Fields saying McCourt is worth about $2 billion, and not $163 million as McCourt declares in court filings.
She is requesting $989,000 a month in living expenses, listing monthly maintenance of $568,829 for their homes.
She also is seeking benefits such as private jet travel, accommodations at five-star hotels, security escorts when traveling, house calls from her makeup artist and hair stylists, use of the Dodgers owners suite, and tickets to all NL and playoff games.

Stolen from ESPN.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Vicente Padilla, pretty much the last guy anybody expected to get the nod, will be the Los Angeles Dodgers' starting pitcher for the club's season opener on April 5 at Pittsburgh.

Padilla, a veteran right-hander, will be followed in the rotation by Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley and Hiroki Kuroda, meaning Kershaw will start the April 13 home opener against Arizona.
