Currently at .244/.344/.517 19 HR 64 RBI in 79 games, 317 PA's

Can we trade Eric Byrnes for him?

Just when I thought I was done with EB in my baseball world, I discover I still have to see/hear this moron on MLB Network.

Alberto Callaspo traded to Angels...

He's had a decent couple years at first glance...

I can't wait for ValueArb to come tell us all how Quentin is a fucking washout
And Josh Byrnes was so freaking smart to dump him so Flipper can play...

Has he been here? I haven't seen a comment since Josh Byrnes was fired.

Quentin had an injury riddled season last year, and he still managed to post OPS+ of 99. Since going to CHI, he's had 127 OPS+ in 309 games over 2 1/2 season.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/q/quentca01.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

Eric Byrnes over that same time span posted OPS+ of 61, over 151 games (including a few games in Seattle) and was washed out of baseball.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/byrneer01.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

The Quentin bashers really need to get their heads out of their behinds and smell something or other...

Just for comparison, OPS+ of Dbacks players since Quentin has been in Chicago:

Upton: 118 OPS+
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/u/uptonju01.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

Reynolds: 109 OPS+
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/reynoma01.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

Montero: 105 OPS+
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/montemi01.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

Drew: 98 OPS+
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/drewst01.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

Jackson: 92 OPS+
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/jacksco01.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

Chris Young: 90 OPS+
http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/y/youngch04.shtml#2008-2010-sum:batting_standard

And just for kicks:

Carlos Gonzalez, last 2 years in Colorado: 118 OPS+

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gonzaca01.shtml#2009-2010-sum:batting_standard

Maybe it's just me, but Upton, CarGo, Quentin OF wouldn't look half bad right now...

It's just mind-boggling how much talent Josh Byrnes pissed away...
But at least we'll always have the Flipper memories...

Except ValueArb didn't defend Flipper?
All I remember was him bashing Quentin, which is totally understandable.
He's been awful since 2008. Like, one of the worst regulars in MLB awful.

Nah, just informed.
Why, are you?
He was below replacement level for all of 2009, and for most of 2010.
He just barely pulled himself above replacement level about a month ago.
In '09, he was 3rd worst among AL outfielders in WAR with as many plate appearances as him.
In '10? Worst.

2009: 351 ABs, OPS+ 99
2010: 272 ABs, OPS+ 125

You call that "awful"? "Like, one of the worst regulars in MLB awful"?

UZR doesn't like Quentin in RF (and didn't like him much in LF last year - but he was hurt with foot problems so I can see that). This year, it's over the top - typically when you see someone whose UZR # is that bad, you start to question UZR as much as you question the player...

Anyhow, the really strange thing about Q is that he had .221 BABIP in 2009, and he has .221 BABIP in 2010. In 2008 he had .278 BABIP. It's almost impossible to have a BABIP that low for such a long period of time. I'll agree he probably shouldn't play in RF... but replacement level?

Anyhow, talk about people missing the forest for the trees here...

And OPS+ only covers his hitting... and Q has to play some D too, y'know.
I'll take WAR over OPS+ any day of the week.
