Baxter is one of the top five -- if not top three -- mascots in baseball. He's had me laughing on my back too many times to count.

Sandy Sidewinder (a talking snake with feet) was a better mascot than Baxter. Our mascot is named for the original name of our ballpark. That's almost as lame as naming a mascot after a ballpark, period. Top 5? I can only think of one truly good mascot in baseball. It resides in Philadelphia.

What about the SD chicken?

The once famous San Diego Chicken is no longer a baseball mascot in any capacity to my knowledge, official or unofficial. Plus the damn thing outgrew itself and became the Famous Chicken. It crossed my mind but I threw it out since it's pretty much dead these days.

To bad, I was a fan.

According to Wikipedia and the FamousChicken.com website, the chicken was the mascot of radio station KGB in San Diego and never belonged to the Padres. He did appear at over 500 straight Padre games, but not as the Padres mascot.

I'm in DC right now and headed out to National's Park to see Strasburg pitch. The park is pretty nice. I don't think it has the character of some of the new places, but it has a nice, intimate feel (only seats 40,000, and the seats sit much more on top of the field than at Chase), has very good sightlines, and good food. Ticket prices seemed much higher than AZ, and the scoreboard sucks compared to Chase. It is, however, definitely worth checking out if you are out this way, and I have to say it is a nicer place to watch a game than Chase, if for no other reason than it is an open-air stadium.

They need to open more advanced ticket windows. I buy them at the park to avoid fees and last night I had to wait about 20-30 mins to buy tickets. This was inside chase. It was a full house last night and that may have something to do with it.
Beer guy did not have Blue Moon on tap last night either. Said it was busted. Should have been fixed.

They need to start running this ad in every DBACKS broadcast.

How embarrassing will it be if we cant draw anyone when "The Kid" comes to town.

I would love to see him live but I am tapped out. Ten games this year has drained me. Not just game tickets but shuttle tickets or gas really plays into it.

I have said this to other people. Winning would be great but there is no greater therapy to my mind then being at chase. I bitch and moan about the cost, losing, the drive etc.. but the second I sit in my seat I feel instant relaxation. There is no place I would rather be win or lose. It would be a lot more fun with winning though.
I figure going to chase is cheaper then a psychiatrist.

The one thing that bothers me is that I know once they start winning guys like me who were there in the bad times wont be able to go in the good times.

Nah. You will have to worry a year after they start winning. Very Happy

the last year I owned season tickets was 2007 and even though they were in the middle of a playoff hunt, I could not sell my tickets on ticket marketplace to save my life, and Chase field was practically a ghost town the entire season, even when we were in 1st down the stretch.

Of course I didn't mind, and went to almost every game, including the playoff games.

Then my first kid was born and I had to give up those season tickets (don't know if I should put a happy or sad face after that one).

I will say that it has gotten rough for me at chase field. I do not like being overrun by the opposing teams fans and it seems like that is getting worse and worse, because our fans aren't coming out and because the home team gives us nothing to cheer for.

I was watching the game and saw that moment, and you KNOW that the booth and the truck were both laughing hysterically as soon as the inning ended and they went to break. Laughing Laughing Laughing
