2 first time European teams reaching the finals. Spain clearly looked like the better team today, and I just don't see the Dutch faring much better then the Germans. 2-1 Spain takes it.

Only saw snatches of clips so far... but like Spain's style. Was hoping to see Brazil and Spain when seeing first round play in S. Africa and was able to see Brazil v. N. Korea.

Would be OK with either Netherlands or Spain winning since we did get to see Netherlands live...

However, don't especially like Netherlands playing style (rather dull and employing too many theatrics) AND some obnoxiously drunk Dutch fans kept me awake all night before the game with Denmark...

So...gotta root primarily for Spain! Cool

0-0 at the half. So far Holland is outplaying Spain, imo. The Spanish goalie has made a couple of nice saves.
I don't get why the collision at center was awarded a Spain free kick. It was incidental contact and anyone knows you don't cross center.

Netherlands have played well, not too many chances except one great one by Spain in the first 10 minutes. Lot's of yellow cards given out, will be interesting to see how that affects the flow of the game in the second half. Should be a fast paced second half, Spain is netting 2.

Great World Cup mostly, congratulations to South Africa for holding such a fine event, and congrats to Spain for proving that they are the best team in the world. Tough luck for the Netherlands, that loss will not sit well. Great chances by both teams, I can't believe it took so long for the first goal to go in, but nice strike by Iniesta to secure the victory. Like the commentators said, the better team won.

Perhaps. Checking guys onto the turf isn't kosher in soccer, Justin.

Am glad Spain won. The Dutch were a bunch of dirty bastards.

x2. A Dutch victory would have legitimized "ugly" soccer

* Tho, must admit similar concept would give more hope to Dbacks fans

That was a good game.

Paraguay showed you had to physically challenge the crisp passing attack
of Spain with an aggressive style of play. Germany chose not to and it allowed Spain to dominate ball control in the semi-final. The dutch probably weren't going to win playing a clean game.

I did not like the play where the dutch player flattened the spaniard putting his foot to the guy's chest. That should have been a red card.

Casillas had the play of the game stopping the shot on the breakaway until Iniesta's goal.

It was a hell of a chess match for 100+ minutes before Spain's pressure finally got the dutch defenders to crack. Had that guy let the pass go through, its offside and its penalty kicks deciding the championship again.
Heads up play by Fabregas to collect the rebound, hold it long enough for Iniesta to get back onside and feed him a beautiful pass.

What a dramatic finish to a World Cup Final.
