Bob Sheppard passed away this morning. His voice remains iconic to Yankee Stadium... and to MLB.

I'll never forget his, "Rod Bara-ghass" introduction in 2001.

RIP

In 2007, Sheppard became ill with a bronchial infection. Since then, his voice has reverberated throughout the ballpark -- an audio recording he made in 2008 still introduces Derek Jeter before each home at-bat: "The shortstop ... No. 2 ... Derek Jeter ... No. 2."

99 fulfilling years for Mr. Sheppard.

His voice is one of those things I clearly remember about going to Yankee Stadium as a kid. A long and very interesting life, though.
