Seems like Davidson is already endearing himself to ball-club, showing of some of the talent that made us pick him-

Quote:
Asked if he could have envisioned himself a year ago in the situation he was in Saturday, said Davidson: "Definitely not. I mean, you're always dreaming, but to have thought this would have been some kind of dream."

Turns out, however, that the Diamondbacks have long been his favorite team.

"They've been my favorite since I was a little kid," said Davidson, 18. "A big reason is because I really liked watching Randy Johnson. Those teams were fun to watch, and then they won it all (in 2001), which was awesome."

Another SS this one without much upside, bit of an iffy pick if you ask me.

D-backs' Draft pick hits three homers
Brent Greer drives in five runs, scores five times in slugfest

It’s obviously far too early to know how this draft will play out, but after a month we seem to have hit on almost every pick we've signed in the top ten rounds—which is an amazing feat even without compensatory picks. Here’s a quick run-down everybody we’ve signed through the first ten rounds who has played at least 3 games—and some later picks doing really well. The stats are bb/k/ba/slg/OPS (hitters) and IP/hits/ER/bb/k (pitchers).

1 17 A.J. Pollock OF Notre Dame Ind. - South Bend

1/ 3/ .400/ .393/ .793

1s 35 Matt Davidson 1B Yucaipa (Calif.) HS Calif. - Yakima

9/ 20/ .356/ .355/ .711

2 64 Marc Krauss OF Ohio Ohio - South Bend

6/ 11/ .365/ .404/ .769

3 95 Keon Broxton 3B Santa Fe (Fla.) CC Fla. - Missoula (19 yrs. old)

10/ 14/ .393/ .560/ .953

4 126 David Nick SS Cypress (Calif.) HS Calif. - Missoula (19 yrs. old)

4/ 13/ .333/ .365/ .699/

5 156 Ryan Wheeler 1B Loyola Marymount Calif. - Yakima

14/ 9/ .507/ .552/ 1.058

6 186 Bradin Hagens RHP Merced (Calif.) JC Calif. - Missoula

(he’s been knocked around pretty good)

8 246 Paul Goldschmidt 1B Texas State Texas - Missoula

8/ 15/ .397/ .592/ .988

9 276 Chase Anderson RHP Oklahoma Okla. - Missoula

9.0/ 4/ 0/ 2/ 9

10 306 Tyson Van Winkle C Gonzaga Calif. - Yakima

7/ 8/ .370/ .263/ .633

12 366 Charles Brewer RHP UCLA Calif. - Missoula

7.0/ 1/ 0/ 2/ 9

14 426 Brent Greer SS Western Carolina N.C. - Yakima

6/ 17/ .448/ .661/ 1.108

15 456 David Narodowski SS Kansas Kan.- Missoula

14/ 14/ .452/ .553/ 1.005

16 486 Ryan Robowski LHP Ohio Dominican Ohio - Missoula

5.0/ 4/ 1/ 0/ 5

31 936 Keith Cantwell RHP Seton Hall N.J. - Missoula

7.0/ 7/ 3/ 0/ 10

33 996 Brad Wilson RHP Cal Poly Pomona Calif. - Yakima (promoted to South Bend—WHIP of about .4 but I can’t find anything on him)

This has probably been asked and answered somewhere else, but I missed it -- but I have to ask: Is Keon Broxton related to Jonathon Broxton?

Keon must have gotten all the attention growing up. He seems quite a bit happier Wink

Nick wrote recently that the Dbacks are close to signing Borchering
Owings might go down to the wire

Nah, it's not that Keon is happier; it's Jonathan is not happy with Grace continually referring to him as, "The BIGGEST man in the WORLD!" Laughing

Which, by the way, is part of Grace's schtick here when doing Diamondback broadcasts, but is NEVER heard when he's on the weekend game for Fox. I'd much prefer to have that Mark Grace as commentator than the one we hear regularly with D. Sutton...

Do we get a compensatory pick next year for unsigned picks in any round, or is it only first rounders who don't sign?

Not sure. I think first 2 or 3 rounds only.

FanGraphs was surprised too.

Everyone has prospects.

Of course, sometimes the prospects are "gloomy"; or, "doomed."

But everyone has prospects...
