Well... Stu may be the only other DBBP member who remembers House Party and Kids Say the Darndest Things, but must give a shout out to Art Linkletter as he moves on to the other side today at the age of 97.

I remember the 2nd version of Kids Say the Darndest things with Bill Cosby. He would have Linkletter on as a guest at times, if I recall right.

That's the definition of a full life. Although, I can't imagine outliving my kids when they die of "old age". I believe one of his kids died at 70.

As a CNA, it makes me realize, I do not want to live that long. There are a few of my patients that are in their 90s and are just basically waiting to die. They have outlived all of their friends and family. It is pretty sad really.

I remember Linkletter fondly. He had some tragedies concerning his children that were sad and shocking.

Quote:
His 20-year-old daughter, Diane Linkletter, died on October 4, 1969, by jumping out of her sixth-floor kitchen window. Linkletter claimed that she committed suicide because she was on, or having a flashback from, an LSD trip, but toxicology tests done after the incident detected no signs of LSD use, and it is quite likely that the drug played no part in her suicide. Linkletter spoke out against drugs to prevent children from straying into a drug habit. His record, We Love You, Call Collect, recorded before her death, featured a discussion about permissiveness in modern society. It featured a rebuttal by Diane, called Dear Mom and Dad. The record won a 1970 Grammy award for the "Best Spoken Word Recording".
His son Robert died in an automobile accident on September 12, 1980
.

From what I thought, there are no toxicology tests for LSD, as it is metabolized and broken down in mere minutes after injestion. But I was wrong:

Quote:
Assuming the testers are using an RIA screening test with the cutoff set at 0.1 ng/ml and assuming that the user has recently emptied their bladder, then the detection limit for one hit (100 ug) is normally around 30 hours.

Still, I doubt they had that kind of test back then, but who knows? Doesn't mean she couldn't have had a flashback. I just remember the 'acid scare' at the time and the plethora of 'bad trip' episodes on Adam 12 et al.

Those are my Linkletter memories. Confused Embarassed

0.1 ng/mL, wow, that is a low detection limit.
