I just got home from a trip to NY, and just saw this now.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Shappi family. I feel lucky to have "known" MaryAnn, if only through this board. Her insights and spirit were always welcome. I had the opportunity to share many things with MaryAnn in private messages. I looked at her very much as a board mother, and appreciated her warmth and generosity of spirit.

No one needs to tell AJ how proud his mom was of him, and how much she loved him. It was an honor to be around here when she shared that love and pride with us.

All the best to the Shappi family, and may all the good years and memories , and of course your faith give you strength and uplift your spirits.

I just want to add my condolences too - I never really got a chance to speak with Incognito, but her posts on the board were always warm and thoughtful. She'll be missed.

With regard to donations, I did look into setting up a PayPal button. The downside would be that PayPal takes a cut of every payment, before it even reaches our account - on $10 it works out to about 6%, which is quite steep, and I know I'd rather my donation all went to charity, rather than PayPal! It would likely be more cost-effective for people to donate directly. Here's the link:

Thanks for info, Jim. The Davis Foundation website has a bug I've not been able to get around tho. I keep getting the following message:

"In Memory of name must contain only letters (a-Z)"

Should I call AJ and see if there is somewhere or something else that they would prefer that we donate to? I can do that if you guys think it would be a good idea.

If she or the family wished for donations to a particular charity or organization, I'd rather donate to it.

Wow, horrible news. I loved that smiling icon with the clown nose she used to use. My thoughts and prayers to the Schappi family.

Yes... thank you. It was good to put a face to her (for me). I wish her and hers peace.

Okay, I have an answer for you all concerning donations in her name. It took a few days for me to get ahold of the Shappi's, sorry. I had to go to New Mexico and pick up my 89 year old mother who isn't in very good shape right now so I could take her to a competent doctor here in Tucson.
Anyway, the family would like any donations to go to either:

MADD
Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation

I don't know the best way to go about this though- any ideas?

Both have websites that have a donation button on their home page:

MADD

Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation

I have created a memorial on findagrave.com for Incognito. Im pretty sure you dont have to be a member of the site to put flowers on the page (its a free account anyways).

Maryann Shappi

Note: Id like to find out her DOB so I can put that up. If any of you have a pic of a headstone that would be cool too. Id rather you PM it to me here rather than posting it in a reply on this thread. Thanks.
