12 team 6x6 league. Typical Roto 5x5 plus new category OPS for offense, Holds for pitching. Daily transaction league.

I need to choose 2 of these 3 players to keep. Which two would you keep?

Drew, 2008 contract, then must be returned to draft pool after 2008

Upton, 2009 contract, then must be returned to draft pool after 2009

Reynolds 2009 contract , then must be returned to draft pool after 2009

My other for sure keepers:

Ryan Braun
Chipper Jones
Orlando Hudson
Chris Young

CC Sabathia
Rich Hill
Jose Valverde
Mann Corpas

Oh, you traded for Chipper? Cool beans. What was the trade?

[edit]

I voted for Upton and Reynolds. You'll have to play Braun in the OF but it don't mean a thing 'cause he just has that swing.

Here's my reasoning:

Your league is 6x6, so OPS counts. Reynolds's SLG will give him an advantage over Drew in that category, plus the HR and RBI categories as well. But...

I really think you should re-draft Drew. I am high on him like a teenage girl from Sweden looking for silver screen flirtations. Drew is going to have a big year...

That being said, because of his 2007 season, and the SS available in your league, I think he's gonna drop far enough in the draft for you to pick him up with a value pick...

Re: Upton. Ya gotta keep the Franchise. 'Nuff said.

[edit 2]

Dropping Drew and re-drafting him means you'll be able to keep him beyond 2008... which will be nice because he'll be a no-brainer keeper after this year...

Hoffman and Izzy for Jones.

For those not familiar...because our league went to 6x6 starting this year and added holds and ops, closers become devalued somewhat, and OPS monsters like Jones become gold.

The fact that Reynolds has an 09 contract is attractive.

My biggest concern with Reynolds is that

A) He will have a severe sophomore slump. That .378 BABIP Juxtaposed against a 31% K rate looms large in my own personal calculus.

B) Even if he's not slumping, there are only 1400 1b, 3b & PH plate appearances to go around between Reynolds, Tracy and Jackson. I am figuring 500 PA's for Jackson and Reynolds, and 400 for Tracy.

But.....as you point out, there is a good deal of depth at the SS position in this years draft and I can always get Drew back.

I think Drew's 2008 contract is a big reason to drop him and then pick him back up at the draft. You can keep him in 08, 09 and 10, [EDIT maybe not in 10... I'm not 100% sure how your league works] and I think that'll he'll be a very good shortstop over the next 3 years. This year's draft may be your last chance to "buy low" on Drew for a while...

good trade for you. I think Hoffman and Izzy will combine for 16 strikeouts in 2008

I say Reynolds and Upton. Even tho SS is generally a thin position in Fantasy, you can find a lot of decent options.

I personally have Reynolds and Upton (and CY for that matter) on my keeper league team, so I voted for the two since obviously I'm already in favor of them Very Happy

I voted Drew and Upton but that was before I read the specifics about Drew only be a 2008 contract and Reynolds a 2009. Makes me want to reconsider and possibly swing that Drew vote to Reynolds. At the same time, you already have Chipper slotted at 3B and Drew as Levski said we're still all pretty high on Drew to put up some #s that many SS can't. So I'll stick with Drew and Upton afterall.
